The strong theatrical performance of ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has prompted the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) to seek a tax benefit for the devotional drama in Maharashtra. The association has approached Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging the state government to grant tax relief to the Vishal Chaturvedi directorial. The appeal comes after the Uttarakhand government reportedly extended a similar benefit to the film. Produced by Shobhinaw Satyaa, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has emerged as a notable box-office success despite being made on a reported budget of around Rs. 2 crore and is now inching towards the Rs. 100 crore milestone.AICWA appeals to Maharashtra government for tax reliefAICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta has formally written to Devendra Fadnavis, requesting financial relief for the film’s theatrical exhibition across Maharashtra. In its appeal, the association highlighted the film’s spiritual themes and its message of devotion, compassion, humanity and selfless service. The letter stated, “Hanuman Ansh is a meaningful spiritual film that conveys the values of devotion, faith, compassion, humanity and selfless service. The film carries a positive and inspirational message for society and is suitable for families and audiences of all age groups.”The association also pointed to Maharashtra’s previous support for films through SGST reimbursement, citing movies such as ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’, ‘Super 30’ and ‘Mission Mangal’. AICWA has requested that ‘Hanuman Ansh’ also be considered under the prevailing policy and that the necessary Government Resolution be issued.AICWA wants tax benefit passed on to audiencesThe association has specifically requested reimbursement of the applicable SGST component on the film’s theatrical exhibition in Maharashtra.
