Editor Pradeep Raghav joins Rajinikanth’s 'Dharman' after 'Jana Nayagan' leak controversy and SIFEA revokes suspension

In a major development, film editor Pradeep E. Raghav has officially joined the technical crew of superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated 173rd film, officially titled ‘Dharman.‘ This high-profile gig marks a swift professional comeback for Raghav, who was suspended just two months prior by the Southern India Film Editors Association (SIFEA) over negligence surrounding the massive pre-release piracy leak of Thalapathy Vijay’s final film, ‘Jana Nayagan.’

An apology letter helps revoke Pradeep Raghav‘s suspension over the ‘Jana Nayagan’ controversy

The South Indian Film Editors Association had earlier suspended Pradeep Raghav for allegedly violating its bylaws during the making of ‘Jana Nayagan.’ It is reported that he hired non-members as assistants for many of his projects, which violates their policy. The organization also added that, although he was not directly involved in the movie’s online release, he admitted his negligence contributed to the problem. In response, Pradeep Raghav apologized to the organization in writing, as reported by Dinamalar. After reviewing his explanation, the Executive Committee decided to revoke the suspension. Association president Gopi later confirmed that the disciplinary action against him had been officially withdrawn.

‘Jana Nayagan’ leak sparked major action across the industry

The illegal leak of ‘Jana Nayagan’ before its CBFC certification became one of Tamil cinema’s biggest piracy cases. The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing arrested several people, including a freelance editor identified as the key accused in the case. An interim order was passed to stop the circulation of the leaked video on social media, other online platforms, and cable television. Even though Pradeep Raghav was not implicated in the leak, the Editors’ Association took his lack of caution regarding the leak very seriously.

Rajinikanth’s ‘Dharman’ marks a new chapter for Pradeep Raghav

With the ban lifted, Pradeep Raghav has now joined the technical crew of ‘Dharman’. The film starring Rajinikanth and produced by Kamal Haasan is one of the most awaited Tamil releases in the offing.
