The BCCI has confirmed that the Duleep Trophy final will be moved from Bengaluru to Chennai. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz that the venue was changed so more fans can attend the match and watch some of India’s top players in action.
“The two quarterfinals and two semifinals will be held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. But because of some government restrictions, we cannot allow the public to watch the matches at the CoE. In view of that, we have moved the final to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai,” Saikia said.
The Duleep Trophy matches will be available to watch online, while selected games, including the final, will also be shown on television. The five-day final is scheduled to begin on September 6, with the quarterfinals and semifinals set to be played over four days.
The Duleep Trophy will begin on August 23, with the two quarterfinals being played at the same time. East Zone will face North East Zone, while North Zone will take on West Zone. The semifinals are scheduled to start on August 30. Central Zone enter the tournament as defending champions after beating South Zone in last year’s final.
