Duleep Trophy final shifted from Bengaluru to Chennai to allow spectators

MUMBAI: The BCCI has shifted the Duleep Trophy final from the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to enable spectators to watch the match.The final will be held from Sept 6-10, while the tournament will begin from Aug 23. All the matches of the tournament will be streamed live, unlike last season, when only the final of the tournament was telecast live.“We wanted to allow people to come and watch the Duleep Trophy final, hence the BCCI has decided to conduct the important domestic fixture at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. At CoE, there are some restrictions regarding attendance of the crowd,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told TOI on Wednesday.When BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was asked during his recent visit to CoE about the match being held behind closed doors, he said, “We will definitely look into the aspect of hosting the match with spectators; we still have time.”Both the quarterfinals, from Aug 23-26, and the semifinals, from Aug 30-Sept 2, of the Duleep Trophy will be held at CoE without any spectators.Central Zone is the defending champion in Duleep Trophy, after having beaten South Zone in the final in 2025.
