England U19 are set to travel to Pakistan to play a multi-format series, set to begin on December 5. All-rounder Raphie Albert will lead the 18-member side on the tour, having led them against the same team at home in September.
Albert to lead England on return tour
While Albert-led England won the one-off Youth Test, Pakistan bested the white-ball series 3-1. From the squad that faced Pakistan in the YODIs in September, England have left out Jack Auld and Harry Wallace while bringing in Farhan Amed, Manny Lumsden, Bertie Michael, Leo Selvey-Clinton, Marley Simpson and Jeet Varaich, who has earned his maiden call-up.
Simpson and Luke Symington will only join the squad for a 12-day training camp in Colombo ahead of the tour. Additionally, Charlie Taylor and Manny Lumsden will link up with the team directly in Rawalpindi.
“I am really looking forward to leading an exciting group of young players and coaches across their winter programme,” said Neil Killeen, who will temporarily serve as the side’s coach for the winter, which includes, besides the Pakistan tour, a series in Australia.
“This is an opportunity for these young players to experience new countries and conditions and for our coaching team to help develop their game in a world-class environment, which will only help in their journey towards international cricket.
“Sri Lanka is an excellent venue for our training camp, where we can build towards what we know will be a tough contest in Pakistan following our series in the summer.”
