Farhan goes past Abhishek Sharma in the latest ICC T20I rankingsPakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan has closed in on the top spot after leapfrogging India’s Abhishek Sharma into second place.

Farhan in second place

Farhan, with a career-best 848 rating points, is behind India’s Ishan Kishan at the top, who has 910 rating points.

Returning to the side in January 2024, six years after his T20I debut, Farhan has emerged as one of the regulars in the shortest format for Pakistan. Besides him, none of the other Pakistan batters are inside the top 40, with Saim Ayub the next best in 42nd place.

He was at his best during the T20 World Cup earlier this year, which he ended as the highest run-scorer, accumulating 383 runs in just six innings and going past Virat Kohli for the most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition. He also became the first batter to notch two centuries in one edition.

Pakistan bowlers in ICC T20I rankings

Among the bowlers, Pakistan have a better contingent to show for. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed retained his second spot, behind only Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Spinner Mohammad Nawaz also retained his 10th position in the latest update, while pacer Salman Mirza has moved up one spot to 16th.

Nawaz also occupies the same position in the ICC T20I all-rounders’ rankings, retaining 10th place. Similar to him, Saim Ayub, who unexpectedly emerged as Pakistan’s all-rounder option, also stayed in second place among the all-rounders.

Indian bowlers Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah had to endure massive falls, dropping three and five places to ninth and 17th, respectively.
