The recent D23 Expo event uncovered a lot of projects and announcements, from the ‘X-Men’ cast to the confirmation that animated films like ‘Coco 2,’ ‘Frozen 3,’ ‘Ghost Market,’ and many other films are on the way too. Along with the reveal of Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ latest trailer, a special message from Hugh Jackman, who plays the role of Wolverine in the franchise, was also played, especially for Kevin Feige. Fans were left in a frenzy of emotions as the actor teased the possible return of the ‘Wolverine-Deadpool’ franchise. Here is what he had to say.

During the expo, a clip of Hugh was played on the big screen for the audience, along with the president of the production company behind the MCU. The video was later reshared by actor Ryan Reynolds on his Instagram page along with the caption, “If this feels like a hostage video, it’s because it’s a hostage video. @thehughjackman D23.”In the video, the actor commented, “I just wanted to check in totally unprompted, just wondering if you might need some help rounding out the cast?” sending fans into a frenzy over the possibility of Wolverine and Deadpool making an appearance in ‘Doomsday,’ which is slated for release in December 2026. While the creators of the film themselves have not shared any confirmation, many people pointed out in the comment section that this could also be a possible teaser for a new film in the ‘Deadpool-Wolverine’ franchise. The first film, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which was released in 2024, became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. According to Sacnilk, the film earned USD 1.338 billion worldwide at the box office. It was also the second-highest-grossing film of 2024.

About ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

The upcoming MCU project has been directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo and will feature the return of beloved actor Robert Downey Jr. for the role of Victor Von Doom / Dr. Doom as the main antagonist of the film. The new Avengers—Steve Rogers, Captain America, Shuri, Shang-Chi, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and many others—come together to battle it out with him, with Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm detailing in the latest trailer that Dr. Doom used to be different; however, after losing the people he loved the most, he changed and became “broken.” The film is going to be released on December 18, 2026, in the United States and globally.
