‘I Love Pakistan’ writing found inside vessel at Cochin Shipyard

KOCHI: Police have launched an inquiry after a message stating “I Love Pakistan” was found written inside a vessel that had arrived at Cochin Shipyard for maintenance.Kochi city police commissioner K Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar said a complaint in this regard was received from Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). “We are conducting an inquiry following the complaint from CSL. The investigation is going on,” he said.According to police sources, a case will be registered once the preliminary inquiry is completed.Sources said the writing was noticed about 10 days ago by workers engaged in maintenance work on the vessel. They said the message appeared to have been etched on an internal wall of the vessel using a sharp object.The CSL security wing conducted an investigation before submitting a formal complaint to the police, news agency PTI reported.As part of the inquiry, Ernakulam Town south police have recorded statements of employees involved in the maintenance work on the vessel, officials said. Registers and other records are also being scrutinised as part of the probe, they added.CSL is regarded as a highly sensitive facility as it builds and maintains key naval assets, including warships and aircraft carriers of the Indian Navy.(With agency inputs)
