Oscar-winning star Jamie Foxx has been through quite a lot in his life. This also includes the massive stroke in 2023 that almost took his life; however, it also gave him a whole new perspective on everything. In a recent interview, the beloved ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ actor opened up about how harrowing the experience was for him and how he coped with the recovery process.

Foxx opened up about how he had conversations with “him” while pointing upwards during a podcast episode on ‘Baby, This Is Keke Palmer.’ He shared that he remembers asking “‘Why me?’” a lot after it happened. He added, “I couldn’t make sense of it, and I remember the parts I do remember, like the rehab part, were frustrating. Because I remember they said, ‘You got a second chance.’ I said, ‘Fuck the second chance. What was wrong with my first chance?’”The 58-year-old then shared that one of the few things that got him through it all was comedy: joking about the situation all the time. He recalled that they could not do proper checks on him because of that when he was still recovering from the stroke. “They couldn’t do wellness checks on me because I only had comedy to lean on. So I was joking all the time.” He would often do impressions of other famous people, including Denzel Washington, when the doctors and medical staff would come up to him for a checkup.As to why he chose to do all of this? Foxx shared that it was one of the only things that was making him feel like himself. He added, “But that was the only way that I could stay… that’s the only way that I could find myself. Because here’s the truth of it: When this all transpired, I went back to meet the 60 nurses that kept me alive.” His daughter, Corrine Foxx, who was also starring as a guest on the podcast, recalled her father’s actions at the time, revealing that whenever he used to break out in expressions, the doctor would never know whether he was doing fine or not.
