She also used the award show to debut her latest music video for ‘Patient Zero,’ which stars Dakota Johnson. Prior to dropping the music video and attending the event in a sleek black and silver dress, Swift had shared a pre-release video on her socials. While the video was simple, many fans were quick to point out that the shirt she wore in the video seemed a little too familiar.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the singer posted a pre-release clip ahead of the much-anticipated ‘Patient Zero’ music video drop. In the video, while she was explaining why she made the decision to debut the music video at the VMAs, fans were quick to point out her wardrobe choice for the post.Swift was seen wearing a simple taupe-colored short-sleeved knit polo, which also featured white stripes on the sleeves. Many were quick to point out that the shirt possibly belongs to her husband, Travis Kelce, who has been photographed wearing similar polo shirts a lot of times over the years. Many others implied that she could have taken inspiration from Kelce’s wardrobe and had given her own spin to it for the special clip. Swift added her own spin to the slightly oversized polo shirt and opted to pair it with her 10-carat diamond engagement ring, of course, along with her gold bracelet, as well as several layered gold statement pendant necklaces. She kept her hair tied up and her makeup minimal while she talked about the VMA awards.In the short clip, the star explained, “I’m kind of, like, rethinking the release of the video, like I’m trying to figure out a way to get this on TV or something.” Kelce had been in Florida at the time the VMAs were held and had been unable to attend the award show to support his wife. At the time, he was playing with the Chiefs against the Miami Dolphins.The ‘Love Story’ singer returned to the VMAs. After her last appearance in 2024, she opted to walk the red carpet wearing a stunning bodycon dress with a black bodice and a sparkly silver skirt that hit the floor. The bodice also came with side and back sheer panels. She won three awards at the award show, which was held on September 27, 2026. These included Video of the Year: ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ Best Direction: ‘Opalite,’ and Artist Director Honors (Inaugural Award).
