The Indian film industry is yet to come to terms with the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, one of its most respected performers.. Filmmaker Pa Ranjith who worked with the actor in Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Kaala’ has paid an emotional tribute recalling his experience working with the late star. Ranjith expressed gratitude for the opportunity and praised Nana Patekar for the kindness and professionalism he showed towards him and his film.

Taking to social media, Pa Ranjith wrote, “Nana Sir, with your passing, Indian cinema has lost an icon. I am deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you. I will always remember how generous and professional you were towards me and my film. It was truly an honour to have worked with you. Sir. Rest in peace. His choice of words reflected the personal relationship that he shared with the actor, separate from the professional domain. Nana Patekar had played an important part in the movie ‘Kaala’ where the main character was Rajinikanth. Pa Ranjith’s tribute also reflected the respect the actor earned from filmmakers who worked alongside him.

Nana Patekar cremated with full state honours in Pune

Nana Patekar was cremated with full state honours at his Donje farmhouse in Pune on Thursday, amid chants of “Nana Amar Rahe” (Long Live Nana). According to his associates, the actor had expressed a wish to be cremated at the farmhouse. His son, Malhar, lit the funeral pyre. Several film personalities, including Jackie Shroff, Sajid Nadiadwala and Anil Sharma, attended the last rites, alongside political dignitaries. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor’s native village to pay his respects, while Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to him at Pune airport before leaving for Mumbai.

Nana Patekar dies at 75, leaving behind a remarkable film legacy

Nana Patekar died at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Goa. Reports said he had complained of a headache before being found unconscious and rushed to hospital. Doctors reportedly attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes, but he could not be saved. Born on January 1, 1951, the actor built an enduring career through powerful performances in films such as ‘Parinda,’ ‘Ab Tak Chhappan,’ ‘Natsamrat,’ ‘Wajood,’ and ‘Welcome.‘He is a three-time National Film Award winner and was given the Padma Shri in 2013 for his contribution to cinema and the arts.His death marks the end of a spectacular chapter in Indian cinema, with colleagues including Pa Ranjith paying tribute to the actor’s talent and the man behind the roles.
