Karachi Kings have added Zahid Mehmood to their squad for the remaining PSL 11 as Khuzaima Bin Tanveer leaves the side. Khuzaima, who was bought for PKR 9 million by Karachi, and fellow UAE player Muhammad Waseem were earlier called back by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) for national duty against Nepal for the white-ball series.
Zahid’s T20 career
Legbreak spinner Zahid Mehmood, who had registered at a base price of PKR 6 million in the PSL auction, earlier went unsold. He had previously represented Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, and, more recently, Karachi Kings in 15 PSL games across four seasons. For Karachi, he took eight wickets in six games during PSL 2024.
Overall, Zahid has played 81 T20 games, taking 100 wickets at an average of 22.19 and an economy of 7.38. He has also played one T20I for Pakistan against South Africa in Lahore, where he took three wickets in four overs for 40 runs.
Karachi’s margin of error diminishes
Currently, Karachi are fighting to occupy the fourth spot in the PSL points table to make it to the next stage. They have won three out of their seven games and have yet to win a game in the Karachi leg.
