Katy Perry has unveiled the music video for her new single ‘Watch It Burn’, embracing her darker side.The video that dropped on Friday, sees the singer with a scorpion tail, as she goes on a fiery rampage, leaving her past in flames. The new music video and song lyrics see the star embracing an edgy look, as compared to her past colourful and eccentric avatars.

The music video also features plenty of ‘easter eggs’ linked to her past romances and relationships. Fans were quick to spot a newsstand carrying publications titled Gaslight Magazine and Slop Times, which are set ablaze. Elsewhere, an antique store is named Time Will Tell, while television screens display the message “Breaking News: Don’t Believe Everything You Hear” and a sign reading, “Read Between the Headlines.” The visuals have been interpreted by fans as a diss to Perry’s 10-year romance with Orlando Bloom.
About ‘Watch It Burn’
According to the song’s creative notes, Watch It Burn “explores the moment when years of restraint, people-pleasing and silence are finally replaced with honesty.”Speaking to songwriter Justin Tranter on Unfamous The Podcast, Perry revealed that she wrote the song in March 2025 but initially hesitated to release it. “In ‘Watch It Burn’ I am wrestling with my darkness but last year was pretty tough. I have not given myself permission to be angry my whole life over things where I should be f–king angry about. What I’ve done is I pushed it down, but I should be f–king angry. I’m allowed to be angry for a f–king moment,” she continued.
