Peshawar Zalmi have won the PSL 11 Final by beating Hyderabad Kingsmen after a season of absolute dominance. In their entire campaign, they only lost one game, against Lahore Qalandars. Their players topping the leading run-scorers and wicket-getters charts is evidence that Zalmi did everything right. Sufiyan Muqeem, with 22 wickets, was named the best bowler of the tournament and also retained the Fazal Mahmood Cap for taking the most wickets this season.
Zalmi players bag big
His fellow Zalmi player Babar Azam will keep the Hanif Mohammad Cap for scoring 588 runs, the most by any batter this season. He equalled Fakhar Zaman’s record of the highest runs in a single PSL edition, who had the same number in PSL 2022. Babar was also awarded as the Batter of the Tournament.
Kusal Mendis, who has the second-highest runs this year, is the tournament’s Best Wicketkeeper. Besides scoring 550 runs at an average of 55 and a 168 strike rate, Mendis took seven catches behind the wickets and two stumpings in PSL 11.
Another Zalmi player, Farhan Yousaf, was also among the individual award winners. Farhan, for his brilliance in the field, was awarded Best Fielder of the Tournament. In total, he took 10 catches in eleven innings, fewer than Marnus Labuschagne, who grabbed 13 in as many innings.
Hunain and Shadab awarded
Hunain Shah, whose bowling dragged Hyderabad into the final, is the only bowler in the emerging category with more than 15 wickets this year. Taking 17 wickets in 10 innings, the young pacer is PSL 11’s Emerging Player of the Tournament.
Islamabad United’s captain, Shadab Khan, has also bagged an award for his all-round skills this season as he wins the All-rounder of the Tournament award. He scored 173 runs in 10 matches while taking 17 wickets.
