Due to a hip injury, the captain of Bangladesh, Litton Das, cannot participate in the ODI tri-series held in UAE. The tournament began on October 17, 2026. Now, the vice-captain, Towhid Hridoy, has been appointed the lead in the first match of Bangladesh against Zimbabwe. With this, Litton Das has been replaced by Parvez Hossain Emon in the team.
Bangladesh physiotherapist Bayezid Islam Khan explained that Litton experienced trouble in his right hip and a scan confirmed that he had an issue. As a result, he could not clear the fitness test and dropped out of the whole series. Litton Das became Bangladesh’s regular ODI captain in July 2026 but has a history of injuries in the form of missing the tour of Zimbabwe.
Litton Das Ruled Out of UAE ODI Tri-Series Due to Hip Injury
He recently performed brilliantly against Afghanistan in a solo Test match played in Abu Dhabi when he scored 53 and 102 runs and took 8 catches. Following the end of the match, he was awarded the Player of the Match as it ended in a tie. Bangladesh will also be missing the all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz for the first match. The team physio has reported that the player has been suffering from fever for the last three days.
This is the first time since September 2023 that both Litton and Mehidy have missed an ODI for Bangladesh. The fast bowler Nahid Rana is also out of the series. He has been missing since mid-July due to a strain. Rana has been to Perth lately for a check-up and is expected to get back to the game at the end of the month. The UAE ODI tri-series features Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe teams.
