Lucknow Spinner Digvesh Rathi Gets Backing as Rishabh Pant Approves Notebook Celebration- IPL

It is not an easy being a spinner in the Indian Premier League, especially a leg spinner, as most of the tracks are favorable for the batsmen. However, players like Digvesh Rathi showed their skills by having a fantastic opening season.

The young leg spinner was picked by Lucknow Super Giants in the auction for ₹30 lakh. He started by making a huge impact in the tournament by displaying excellent skills in bowling and even managed to outshine seasoned players like Ravi Bishnoi.

But Rathi’s skills were not the only reason he came into the spotlight; he also gained fame for his unique “notebook celebration.” Under this celebration, he acts as if he is writing down the name of the batsman he has got out.

But along with fame came a price; he got into trouble as well. He was charged a fine twice of 25% of his match fee when he got out Priyansh Arya, and then 50% when he repeated the same act against Naman Dhir. He had to pay a fine of ₹9.37 lakh.

As per reports, his own captain in the IPL, Rishabh Pant, also tried to stop him from doing that celebration so that he does not end up being fined or even suspended. At one point of time, it even looked like the players of Lucknow Super Giants were unknowingly avoiding giving him wickets so that he does not get into any controversy.

Now, before the start of IPL 2026, a lot of attention is being given to Digvesh Rathi. The fans are looking forward to seeing how he performs this season and if he continues to shine and celebrate without any problems. One thing is for clear, Digvesh Rathi is a man who is confident and ready to celebrate again this season.

Digvesh Rathi said that,

“The only thing Rishabh bhai and the management have told me is ‘you continue being your most authentic self, but just don’t get banned.’”

“That was my first year and I didn’t know the expectations,” Rathi said. “I didn’t intend to disrespect anyone then and neither do I want to now. But nobody can stop me from celebrating. If a batter can celebrate after scoring a hundred by putting their helmet on top of their bat and so on, then I can celebrate too.”
