Mohammad Amir joins Nottinghamshire as a domestic player for the Vitality Blast 2026- IPL

Mohammad Amir joins Nottinghamshire as a domestic player for the Vitality Blast 2026Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir will play for Nottinghamshire Outlaws for the remainder of the Vitality Blast 2026.

How will Amir play as a local?

Amir will feature on the side as a domestic player after he acquired British citizenship last month. He qualified for the visa via his wife, who is a British citizen.

“As a British passport holder, Amir will not be counted as an overseas player for the duration of his stay at Trent Bridge, which includes any potential knockout matches that Notts may play,” said the club.

He will join his fellow Pakistan pacer Mohammad Ali, who is one of the two overseas players for the franchise this season.

Amir, who has not played for Pakistan since his appearance in the 2024 T20 World Cup, will be playing his sixth Vitality Blast stint. Previously, he had played three seasons for Essex and one each for Derbyshire and Gloucestershire.

Last year, for Essex, he grabbed 20 wickets in 14 games, which was the highest for the team and joint eighth highest for the competition as a whole.

Amir could get a Hundred deal

This Vitality Blast stint could also see him land a Hundred deal with Trent Rockets, as per reports. He could slot in as a replacement for the Rockets’ seamers David Payne and Matt Henry, both of whom are in doubt to recover ahead of the Hundred.

“I’m really excited to have joined Notts,” Amir said. “I’ve heard lots of good things about this club, and I’m looking forward to it. I have lots and lots of memories at Trent Bridge, and I know that T20 is all about entertaining the people, so I’ll be trying my best to do well for this team and make this crowd happy.”
