Pakistan Cricket Board has announced squads for the upcoming white-ball tour against Sri Lanka, set to begin on July 23.
Fatima Sana to miss T20Is
Regular captain Fatima Sana will lead the side in the ODIs after which she will fly to England for her maiden Hundred stint, while Muneeba Ali will deputise for her.
For T20Is, Pakistan have made several changes to the squad that played in the Women’s T20 World Cup recently, as they dropped Aliya Riaz, Iram Javed, and Diana Baig.
Pakistan drop Aliya Riaz, call up three uncapped
The inclusion of the former two was particularly criticised during the World Cup as well and their woeful performances made matters worse. In their stead, they have called up eight players, including three uncapped ones, namely Momina Riasat, Maham Anees, and Eman Naseer.
Humna Bilal, who made her debut against South Africa in February this year, has also been called back along with Najiha Alvi, Shawaal Zulfiqar and Waheeda Akhtar. Najiha has been out of the T20 side since 2024, while Shawaal and Waheeda last played the shortest format in August last year.
Saira Jabeen to play ODIs
As for the ODI squad, Pakistan have largely stuck to the same unit which faced Zimbabwe at home ahead of the T20 World Cup. They have only made four inclusions, calling up the uncapped Maham Anees and Saira Jabeen, who is making her ODI debut, as well as Umm-e-Hani and Waheeda Akhtar.
