Singer and Bigg Boss Telugu 3 winner Rahul Sipligunj was recently named in an FIR based on a complaint filed by a woman in Visakhapatnam. With a relative of his, Karpurapu Rahul Reddy, named as the first accused, the singer was also accused in a case related to blackmail and threat in a marriage case. Sipligunj explained his connection to the accused and what led to the FIR against him. Rahul Sipligunj claims alleged victim and accused reached compromise
On the Beyond News YouTube channel, Sipligunj claimed that a ‘complaint can be filed on anybody’ at the police station, and if it’s by a woman versus a man, an FIR will be raised because of the gender of the alleged victim. He explained that Reddy was his wife, Harinya Reddy’s relative, and that he was in a relationship with the accused when their ‘egos clashed’.
“They have even reached a compromise since then. There’s also a video of them together from July that my wife sent me. I spoke to the victim as soon as the news broke, and she claimed that the advocate, who was also named in the FIR, had leaked it. People are claiming that I’ve run away or switched off my phone. But I have been cooperative with the police when it all happened,” said the singer.
Explains what led to the FIR on him
Sipligunj claimed that the woman said she was influenced by a third person when she spoke to him. “When the complaint was initially filed, the advocate she approached initially spoke on both of our behalf. It riled up the victim to file a complaint against all of us, including me. Now, when both parties have compromised, the victim has claimed that the advocate leaked the news,” he said.
The singer repeatedly claimed in the video that the woman who filed the complaint told him it was the advocate named in the FIR who leaked the news. He also claimed that the lawyer is the reason he was named in the complaint. Sipligunj stated that he’s ‘only answerable to the victim and the law’ when it comes down to it.
Police statement on Rahul Sipligunj case
The complaint was filed at the MVP Colony police station in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and has since been transferred to the Women’s Police Station. Sipligunj’s claim of a compromise contradicts what the police told TV9 Telugu on Wednesday. ACP CH Ambedkar told them, “On June 12, a woman approached the MVP police station and stated that last year she met a man named Karupurapu Rahul Reddy on the dating app Bumble. They began dating, and he got physical with her under the pretext of marriage.”
“Some of Rahul Reddy’s family members and friends, including Rahul Sipligunj, have allegedly threatened her to move on. A case has been filed against 16 people, including Rahul Sipligunj and his wife, as well as Rahul Reddy. We are investigating the case,” said the police. According to a copy of the FIR posted by the channel, Rahul Reddy, Geetha Prasanna Chandana, Naresh, Uday, Shivanarayana Suvanna, Sanyasi Naidu, Harinya Reddy, Rahul Sipligunj, Karthik, KR Reddy and Prasanna have been named. The woman filed a complaint alleging harassment, threats and more.
