Veteran actor Nafisa Ali has shared a fresh update on her health, revealing that her stage 4 ovarian and peritoneal cancer has progressed, with new cancer deposits detected on the surface of her liver. The actor, who has been battling cancer since 2018 and is currently undergoing her third round of remission, said her treatment protocol has now been changed and she has begun targeted therapy.

Nafisa Ali took to Instagram on Sunday to share an update with her followers. The actor posted a picture of herself smiling from a hospital bed while holding an IV drip bag.Sharing details of her latest treatment, Nafisa wrote, “My treatment protocol has changed and now I have been put on a Targeted Therapy… fighting the good fight. Thank you for always keeping my support energy strong.”She further explained the findings from her latest scan, writing, “In very simple terms, the PET/CT suggests that the ovarian/peritoneal cancer has progressed, with new deposits on the surface of the liver.”

Following the health update, several social media users took to the comments section to send Nafisa Ali their love, prayers and wishes for her recovery.Fashion designer Farah Khan Ali was among those who extended her support. She wrote, “You fight girl. You are strong, you are fabulous, you are brave, and you will succeed. Love and prayers your way always my Naf.”Farah also responded to another Instagram user who revealed that she was battling the same stage of cancer as Nafisa. Offering words of encouragement, she wrote, “You will fight this and you will win. Don’t give up. Sending you love and prayers too.”
Nafisa Ali’s cancer journey since 2018
Nafisa Ali was first diagnosed with stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer in 2018. Since then, the actor has undergone treatment while continuing to live in Goa and has remained open about her experience with the disease. Speaking to SCREEN in July this year, Nafisa reflected on the difficult journey and the impact cancer has had on her and her family.“Cancer is something that tears families apart. It tears your financial balance apart. It is the scariest journey that I have ever been on because earlier, I could fight for the world. Now, I’m fighting for my life,” she said.The actor also spoke about wanting to leave a message for her children, family and younger generations, stressing the importance of creating a better future.“So, it has taught me that I need to leave a message for my children, for my family, and for the young people: that the world definitely deserves to be a better place. And I will not step back and allow the powers that be to silence me. I want to tell the truth because, one, it is the future that belongs to everybody else. And we owe it to them to do right,” she added.
