Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, has opened up about a difficult chapter from his past, recalling what he described as a deeply traumatising experience in 2021 involving Sara Ali Khan’s mother and veteran actress Amrita Singh. In a recent interview, Orry said the episode became one of the darkest periods of his life and ultimately made him more resilient.
Orry opens up about a difficult phase
During a conversation with Pinkvilla, Orry was asked about a challenging period that taught him mental strength. Recalling 2021, he said, “Back in 2021, Amrita Ali Khan traumatised me. It was a lot. It was a bit, I was like a bit, I don’t think I have been through something like this.”Describing the impact the experience had on him, Orry said, “It was a very low dark time in my life like she really put me through hell.”
‘Nothing really makes me sad’
Orry recalled how those close to him encouraged him to view the difficult experience as something that would eventually make him stronger. At the time, however, he said he did not understand why he needed to develop that level of resilience.“When I moved and got out of it, people were like you will get through this stronger. I was like ‘I don’t need that much strength.’ Like who needs that much strength in their life,” he said.Looking back, Orry said he eventually understood the impact the experience had on his emotional resilience. “Then I realised nothing really affects me anymore. Like, nothing really makes me sad,” he added.
Orry says the experience helped him handle criticism
Orry further explained that what he went through in 2021 prepared him for the scrutiny that followed once he became a public figure. He said the criticism and hate he initially received did not affect him as much because of the resilience he had developed.“I think the trauma I went through then actually made me strong enough that when I became a public figure, then amount of hate I used to get initially it never affected me,” Orry said.He added that although people would insult him, he was able to deal with the comments without allowing them to affect him emotionally.When asked to explain what exactly happened between him and Amrita Singh, Orry chose not to disclose details. He simply said, “Honestly bad things happen to bad people. I am gonna leave it to that.”
Orry’s social media digs at Sara Ali Khan
Orry has previously made several social media posts that appeared to take digs at Sara Ali Khan. His posts have reportedly included references to Sara, Palak Tiwari and Amrita Singh, with some of his remarks drawing attention online.In one instance, Orry shared a reel asking, “Which are the worst names I know?” The next frame featured the names Amrita, Sara and Palak, seemingly referring to Amrita Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Palak Tiwari.Orry’s social media activity has reportedly been a source of tension with Sara. He had also reportedly posted unflattering pictures of the actor while wishing her on her birthday in August last year, which she allegedly did not appreciate.According to industry grapevine, Sara’s brother Ibrahim Ali Khan, who was once reportedly a close friend of Orry, has also had a fallout with him.Sara has seemingly responded to some of Orry’s posts through her own social media activity. At one point, she reportedly shared the song ‘Naam Chale’ by Vikram Sarkar, which was interpreted by some as a possible response to the ongoing social media exchanges.However, neither Sara Ali Khan nor Amrita Singh has publicly addressed Orry’s latest claims about the alleged 2021 incident.
