Pakistan Bowled Out for 133, Brook Hits Fifty- IPL

England took a 23-run first-innings lead on day one of the third and final Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston. At stumps, England were 156 for 4, with Harry Brook unbeaten on 52 and Dan Lawrence on 5.

The day saw 14 wickets fall. Pakistan were bowled out for just 133 in 34 overs after struggling against England’s pace attack. Saud Shakeel was their only recognised batter to offer real resistance with 43 off 47 balls.

Razaullah Makes Strong Debut

Pakistan handed Test debuts to three players as they made major changes to their team. Razaullah was one of them and quickly caught attention with his pace and movement. The 21-year-old regularly bowled around 89mph. He also reached 92mph with his ninth delivery. He finished with 2 for 42 from nine overs.

Razaullah dismissed Joe Root with his fourth ball in Test cricket. He trapped Root lbw after the ball skidded onto his pad. It was Root’s 10th lbw dismissal in 13 innings.

Pakistan Lose Wickets Quickly

England’s bowlers kept the pressure on Pakistan from the start. Josh Tongue took four wickets, while Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer took three each. Robinson finished with 3 for 15. His economy rate was just 1.36, continuing his strong run with the ball this summer.

Saim Ayub survived an early lbw review but was later dismissed by Robinson. The wicket also gave Robinson his 100th Test wicket. Archer removed Azan Awais and Shan Masood, while Tongue dismissed Babar Azam for just 7. Babar was beaten by a delivery that moved in off the pitch and hit the top of off stump.

Shakeel tried to steady the innings as Pakistan slipped to 26 for 4. Debutant Ghazi Ghori hit a four from his first Test ball but was soon dismissed by Tongue. Tongue then bowled another debutant, Mohammad Imran Randhawa, with a yorker.

Razaullah and Shakeel added some runs before England struck again. Robinson removed Razaullah after an edge was taken at slip, while Tongue bowled Shakeel. Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali then added 26 for the last wicket, taking Pakistan to 133.

Gay and Brook Put England Ahead

England also lost early wickets in their reply. Ben Duckett was caught at second slip off Mohammad Ali, while Jordan Cox was trapped lbw by Mohammad Abbas. England were soon reduced to 24 for 2 and then 39 for 3. Emilio Gay and Harry Brook then took control and added 104 runs for the fourth wicket.

Gay scored a patient 60 from 113 balls. He hit nine fours and brought up his third Test fifty in 10 innings. Gay had scored 33 in the first Test at Headingley and then made 8 and 31 at Lord’s. His 60 was his first fifty of the series against Pakistan.

Razaullah ended Gay’s innings after the batter edged a 90mph delivery onto his stumps. The young fast bowler had earlier dismissed Root and gave Pakistan a brief lift after their poor first innings. Brook stayed unbeaten on 52 at the end of the day. He and Lawrence will resume on the second morning with England holding a narrow lead.
