Pakistan fined for slow over rate against India

Pakistan fined for slow over rate against India Pakistan women’s team have been penalised for maintaining a slow over rate in their T20 World Cup game against India in Birmingham.

Pakistan penalized under Article 2.22

Bowling first against arch-rivals, Pakistan were found to be one over late than the target, after considering the time allowance.

Match Referee Trudy Anderson of the Emirates ICC International Panel charged the side with five per cent of their match fee under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with minimum over-rate offences, ranging from five (in T20Is) to 20 (in ODIs/Tests) per cent of match fees.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana accepted the sanction, making a formal hearing unnecessary. The side was also restricted to keep only four fielders in the outer circle due to the slow over rate. This proved to be very costly for them as India accumulated 38 runs in the last two overs.

On-field umpires Claire Polosak and Jacquline Williams, third umpire Eloise Sheridan and fourth umpire Sue Redfern levelled the charge.

Pakistan’s defeat against India

Pakistan found a rather unimpressive way to begin their Women’s T20 World Cup campaign as they succumbed to the brilliant Indian bowling.

Where once they looked set to give a stern challenge to India, Pakistan ended the game 64 runs short of the target. Indian spinners stayed on top of their rivals after Smriti Mandhana’s 68-run knock lifted the side to a 170-run total.
