Pakistan pacer Mohammad Ali steals a last-over win over Durham- IPL

Vitality Blast 2026: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Ali steals a last-over win over DurhamPakistan fast bowler Mohammad Ali, representing Nottinghamshire in the Vitality Blast, bowled a brilliant last over as he defended 12 runs in the final over to take his side home.

Ali does just enough

With four wickets in hand and a set David Bedingham batting at 26, Durham’s chances of getting over the line were fairly decent. But Ali successfully ensured no ball reached the boundary as Nottinghamshire won the game by two runs.

Ali, who is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in the league, did nothing more or less than what was required of him. His returns of 32 runs in four overs and one wicket cannot be counted amongst his best this season, but he still managed to do the job just right. His one scalp was that of Ollie Robinson, who had taken Mohammad Amir for 14 runs off five balls in just the previous over.

He followed the same theme in his last over as well. Ali conceded seven runs off the first five balls, leaving Durham needing a boundary to tie on the last ball. But they could only manage a couple off the last ball.

Pakistan bowlers’ good day at Blast

Elsewhere, Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq bagged three wickets to help Warwickshire defeat Gloucestershire. The mystery spinner conceded 12 runs in four overs as he uprooted Gloucestershire’s top order almost alone. Another Pakistan bowler, Usama Mir, also had a decent outing with the ball for Worcestershire, who secured a crucial win against Glamorgan. Usama dismissed two batters for the bargain of just 17 runs, as he continues to be his side’s highest wicket-taker in the league.
