Set to begin on May 30, the three-match ODI series between Australia and Pakistan will be played across Lahore and Rawalpindi. The first ODI, set to be played in Rawalpindi, will also be Australia’s first time playing at the venue since 1994. Following the first ODI, the two teams will play the remaining games at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on June 2 and June 4.
To prepare for the series, Pakistan are likely to hold three to four intra-squad games, which will also be assessed by head coach Mike Hesson. Pakistan will finalise the squad for the series after these games.
Australia could send a watered-down squad
Australia, meanwhile, is mulling over sending an inexperienced squad for the ODI series. The decision is mainly due to their main players involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and a few others set to rest ahead of a busy Test season
The series will be played at the same time as the end-stage games of the IPL, which means players from teams eliminated from the competition could still be a part of the series. Additionally, this could give the side a chance to test their domestic performers with batter Oliver Peake and all-rounder Liam Scott in line to get a spot in the team.
