Pakistan U19 were a class apart from the home team as they won the fourth Youth ODI by a whopping 200 runs to win the four-game series 3-1. Opener Usman Khan, who top-scored with 240 runs across the series, got the side off to a brilliant start with his 148-run stand with Jahangir Bilal. Both batters departed after scoring the same number of runs, 79.
Pakistan batters take England to cleaners
The fall of wickets within a matter of a few overs, paired with Abdul Qadir, who had by then been the second-highest run-scorer of the series, departing early was one of the very few hiccups Pakistan endured during the game.
This was remedied fairly quickly as captain Farhan Yousaf and Ahmed Hussain brewed another scintillating partnership. Both middle-order batters put 144 on the scoreboard in just 97 balls before Hussain was sent packing by Ralphie Albert in the last over, but by then the damage had already been done.
Farhan went back in with an unbeaten 80 runs, missing out on what would have been his second century on the tour. Pakistan finished the innings with a massive 350-run target for England, who had been dismissed under 200 in two out of the previous three games.
Spinners seal the deal
The Pakistan bowlers began their onslaught as quickly as they could. Within the first ten overs, England lost three wickets, though their run rate was more than par. That had a lot to do with Isaac Mohammad and captain Ralphie Albert’s quickfire knocks, scoring 59 off 36 balls.
But that was about the only resistance England exhibited. They soon came off the tracks, losing their last six batters for just 16 runs. Pakistan spinners shared seven wickets between them, with Ahmed Hussain taking the biggest chunk by dismissing three batters.
Only one England batter could get past 35 runs as they slumped to just 150. This was England U19’s worst defeat in terms of run margin, with the next two on the list coming against Pakistan in the same series.
