Filmmaker-actor Parthiban was vocal in his criticism of Trisha Krishnan after she attended a wedding with Vijay days after news broke that the Tamil Nadu chief minister’s wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam, had filed for divorce. Now, months after that, the filmmaker met Vijay and showered him with unique gifts, including a handwritten letter.

Parthiban’s unique gifts for Vijay
Parthiban met Vijay to congratulate him on his victory in the TN election. Pictures of their meet-up show the duo posing together, all smiles. One picture shows Parthiban presenting Vijay with the custom painting he commissioned in his honour. The painting depicts the actor-politician in a royal outfit from a bygone era, with a throne beside him. Another picture shows the handwritten note Parthiban wrote in Vijay’s honour.
Written on one corner of the painting is Parthiban’s handwritten note for Vijay in Tamil. It roughly translates to: “From the cinematic realm to the Chief Minister’s seat! To bring a peaceful, non-chaotic governance, adorned with sacred sandal paste marks—Vijay, the great scholar, ascends the throne and adorns the seat of power. Congratulations to the Chief Minister, who is shaking the world of politics!”
Some fans thought it was hilarious that Parthiban was showering Vijay with gifts despite his past criticism. “He is the one who went viral after commenting about Trisha!” commented one fan. Another Instagram-user wrote, “This entire thing is uncomfortable! One He spoke about Trisha and she had to call him out and post against him for which he gave a bad reply. Second in a democratic country calling CM as KING and EMPEROR is sooo bull s**t.”
What did Parthiban say about Trisha Krishnan?
In March, Vijay and Trisha made news when they attended a wedding in Chennai wearing matching outfits. It came days after news broke that Sangeeta had alleged infidelity in her divorce petition. Parthiban reacted to Trisha’s picture at an event and, referring to her character from Ponniyin Selvan, he said, “This Kundavai should be kept at home for a few days. That’s good. Don’t let her come out.”
After massive backlash, Parthiban clarified in a video and said, “Now many are asking me why I am criticising the woman (Trisha) for coming to the wedding reception and not the man (Vijay). I want to clarify that people are reacting to only a portion of the video. Right or wrong, the man has an equal role in it.” He also claimed that the controversy should have been avoided till after the elections.
Trisha, however, publicly criticised Parthiban for his remark. “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they’re aimed at,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). She also claimed that her name and picture were included at the last minute at someone’s request.
