The debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz met in what was their first encounter this season. Last week, this would have been a clash of the bottom-most teams, but Hyderabad have turned their fate entirely in the Karachi leg. Including the Rawalpindiz clash, Hyderabad are now on a three-game winning streak, which has seen them break into the top four.
Rawalpindiz, though, are unmoved from last place as they still haven’t opened their account. And while Hyderabad have found their way back, Karachi Kings have similarly lost the plot. After winning their first three games convincingly, they have now lost the next three equally resoundingly. What’s more is that they haven’t won a single home game this season. If they continue on the same path, they might as well kiss their playoff chances goodbye.
Islamabad have replaced Multan Sultans in second place, thanks in large part to their openers, especially Sameer Minhas, wreaking havoc on Karachi’s bowling. Minhas now has 265 runs at a strike rate of 163.5.
