The Rajasthan Royals Manager Romi Bhinder has been penalized with a minor fine by the BCCI ACSU for the use of his cell phone in the dugout during their game with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rajasthan Royals Dugout Phone Controversy Ends With Fine for Romi Bhinder, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Cleared The incident became famous since Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was sitting next to Bhinder, who was found looking at the screen of the phone.

There have been reports that Bhinder was later cleared of the charges and has been asked to pay only a minor fine with a warning; there have been no updates yet on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Under the IPL guidelines, team managers are permitted to carry phones during the game but cannot use them while the game is on. The incident took place during the 11th over when Bhinder checked his phone from the dugout.

Following this, the BCCI Secretary, Devajit Saikia, mentioned that the investigation had begun to check whether any breach had occurred. Reports also mention that Bhinder had used his phone due to a health emergency.

“Both of his lungs had collapsed and that medical emergency meant he spent nearly a month in a Nagpur hospital,”

“Romi has lost more than 10 kilos due to medical issues. He has asthma as well because of which he is advised not to walk a long distance or climb stairs frequently. He is with the team and performed various roles for the franchise. Hence he knows the rules and regulations but that phone was in his possession due to medical reasons.”
