'Ramayana' advance booking: Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-starrer crosses USD 100K in US pre-sales as tickes go on sale

Advance bookings for Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-starrer ‘Ramayana’ have officially opened, and it looks like the film may just be off to a flying start. As per the lastest box office reports, the film has crossed the USD 100,000 mark in the US, with the film reportedly collecting USD 111,400 (approximately Rs 1.05 crore) from 5,200 tickets across 1,430 shows. The figures, reported by BFilmy, come shortly after US advance sales opened on October 15, offering an indication of the demand for the epic in one of the key overseas markets.According to Venky Box Office, US ticket sales for the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film opened 19 days ahead of the film’s November 5 worldwide theatrical release. Meanwhile, Fandango has announced a promotional offer for moviegoers in the US, providing a discount of up to USD 7 on an IMAX ticket for ‘Ramayana: Rise of a Legend’. The offer is available through Fandango using a promo code, subject to terms and availability. An official post from the film’s international social media handle read, “Reserve your seat to the greatest epic of all mankind. Get Tickets NOW for RAMAYANA: RISE OF A LEGEND – the most immersive 3D cinematic experience ever – exclusively in theatres, IMAX and Premium Large Formats worldwide November 5.”The US advance-booking update coincides with the release of the film’s second trailer and new character posters featuring its lead actors – Ranbir and Yash. One poster showcases Ranbir as Lord Ram during an action sequence in a jungle, while another features Yash as Ravan sitting over a pile of bodies of the defeated Kubera army as he conquers Lanka. The film is reportedly listed with a tentative runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes.Early listings have also brought attention to the film’s premium-format availability, considering that ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ is also competing for premium IMAX screens. The early response has also fuelled speculation about the film’s opening-day potential in India. Some trade predictions suggest that ‘Ramayana’ could become Bollywood’s second film to open at Rs 100 crore net after the Ranveer Singh starrer, ‘Dhurandhar 2’. There is also early buzz that the film could surpass the reported Rs 400 crore lifetime business of the Prabhas-starrer ‘Adipurush’ within its opening weekend.
