The latest ICC weekly rankings show India dominating the top of the batting charts. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell continues to lead with 802 rating points, but Shubman Gill is just one point behind on 801 after scoring 188 runs in the recent three-match ODI series against England. Virat Kohli remains third with 767 points, while Rohit Sharma has climbed to fourth with 758 points.
Record-Breaking Century Lifts Rohit in ICC Rankings
Rohit’s rise came after his sensational 138 off just 110 balls in the final ODI at Lord’s. The veteran opener smashed 17 fours and five sixes while chasing a daunting target of 388. Despite battling cramps during the innings, he became the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at the iconic venue, adding another milestone to his illustrious career.
The century also carried extra significance because reports before the match suggested it could be Rohit’s final ODI appearance. The race for the No.1 ODI batter ranking is now incredibly close. With only one rating point separating Daryl Mitchell and Shubman Gill, the top position could change hands in the next ODI series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also within striking distance, meaning four world-class batters remain in contention for the coveted top ranking.
