Ryan ten Doeschate Likely to End Team India Stint After England Tour: Report- IPL

Ryan ten Doeschate Likely to End Team India Stint After England Tour: ReportRyan ten Doeschate could be set to leave the Indian cricket team, with reports suggesting this week may be his last with the national side. If the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and head coach Gautam Gambhir approve his request, the third ODI against England on July 19 could be his final match as India’s assistant coach.

According to Cricbuzz, ten Doeschate has already informed the BCCI that he wishes to step away from his role. The report states that his decision is not linked to any dissatisfaction with the job or differences with the team management. Instead, both parties are expected to part ways on good terms if his request is accepted. A source said, “If the separation happens, it will be an amicable one with mutual consent.”

The former Netherlands all-rounder joined the Indian coaching staff two years ago after Gautam Gambhir became head coach. His initial contract with the BCCI is understood to have ended around July 12-14, and he is now seeking to conclude his tenure after the ongoing ODI series in England. If approved, his departure would mark the end of a two-year stint with the Indian team.

Family Commitments Behind ten Doeschate’s Decision

The primary reason behind his decision is believed to be personal. Ten Doeschate reportedly wants to spend more time with his family, who live in London. With his wife working and their three young sons requiring greater attention, he feels it is the right time to take up a role that involves less international travel. A source explained, “He wants to devote more time to his family and is looking for a position that allows a better work-life balance.”

Another factor is believed to be his role within the coaching setup. Although ten Doeschate is widely regarded as an excellent fielding coach, India already have T Dilip in that position. As a result, his responsibilities have reportedly been spread across different areas, leaving less clarity about his primary role in the support staff.

Despite his desire to leave, ten Doeschate shares a strong relationship with Gautam Gambhir. The India head coach personally recommended him to the BCCI after taking charge of the team and has often praised his contribution. Reports suggest Gambhir values his input on several aspects of coaching and may even try to convince him to stay. However, no final decision has been made yet.

Cricbuzz reported that it did not approach ten Doeschate directly because the Indian team is currently in the middle of an international series. The publication has, however, contacted the BCCI for its response. As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding his future with the national side.

T Dilip Expected to Continue as Fielding Coach

Meanwhile, another report has dismissed speculation surrounding fielding coach T Dilip. Contrary to recent media claims, Dilip is not expected to leave the Indian team. The former Rahul Dravid-era support staff member is understood to be continuing in his role, ensuring stability in India’s coaching setup regardless of what happens with Ryan ten Doeschate.
