Sahibzada Farhan was an accidental pick, says Multan Sultans owner- IPL

Sahibzada Farhan was an accidental pick, says Multan Sultans ownerSahibzada Farhan finished the T20 World Cup as the highest run-scorer, became the first player to score two tons, and went past Virat Kohli to score the most runs by any batter in a single T20 World Cup edition. The 30-year-old also has the most runs by any batter in T20s since the start of this year.

Sahibzada Farhan at the top

He is currently with Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he is raking in runs. Having scored 232 runs in five innings at a staggering strike rate of 181, Farhan is the league’s highest run-getter.

But Multan’s owner, Gohar Shah, says he was never originally in the plans to be roped in. The franchise, which was Sialkot Stallionz during the auction, only bid for Farhan to affect the other picks and purse of Islamabad United, who were in the bidding war for the opener.

Why was he picked accidentally?

“You can listen to the post-match interview of Tim on the PSL page.
Facts below: Sahibzada [Farhan] – accidental pick, Hassan [Cheema] was trying to raise the price for Islamabad [United] to impact their other picks and purse. Was not in SS [Sialkot Stallionz] plans originally,” he confirmed in a tweet.

Either way, Sultans are reaping the rewards of this happy mistake. Farhan and Steve Smith make for a dynamic opening duo at the top and have been the reason behind the side’s brilliant form.
