Sai Kishore Named Captain- IPL

Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has announced the squad for the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season. Sai Kishore will captain the team, while Andre Siddart has been named vice-captain. Tamil Nadu will face Rajasthan in their first match of the season.

The squad was announced on September 21. Kishore will lead the side in the opening game. Siddart, one of the young batters from Tamil Nadu, will support him as vice-captain.

Kishore comes into the season after playing for Gloucestershire in the County Championship. He took 19 wickets in five matches. He also had a good game against Derbyshire in Bristol. The spinner took five wickets in the second innings after taking two wickets in the first innings.

Tamil Nadu Have Experienced Names in the Squad

The squad has a mix of young players and experienced cricketers. Baba Indrajith, Narayan Jagadeesan and Pradosh Ranjan Paul are among the senior players in the team.

These players will have a big role during the season. Tamil Nadu have also kept five players in the standby and development group. They are Aaditya B, Esakkimuthu A, Manav Parakh, Radhakrishnan S and Sachin B.

Tamil Nadu Held a Camp in Chennai

Tamil Nadu started their preparations before announcing the final squad. The association first released a long list of players for the domestic tournaments, including the Ranji Trophy. The team then held a training camp in Chennai. An earlier press release said the camp would run from September 3 to 25. The squad was announced four days before the camp was scheduled to end.

Sai Sudharsan to Miss First Match

Sai Sudharsan will not be playing for Tamil Nadu in its opening Ranji Trophy game against Rajasthan. This is because he is scheduled to play for India A against Australia A.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of India A-Australia A matches with an unofficial Test in Puducherry. Sudharsan may come into action for Tamil Nadu in the latter part of the Ranji Trophy season once he finishes with India A commitments. Kishore is one of the consistent performers in domestic cricket. Now, he has been handed over the leadership role of Tamil Nadu team. His recent County Championship experience will certainly prove useful.
