'Settled 8 wars, still no Nobel': Trump fumes over Peace Prize snub
Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for resolving eight conflicts

US President Donald Trump renewed his complaint over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming he has settled eight wars, secured the return of Israeli hostages and is close to resolving two more conflicts. In a lengthy post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump listed what he described as his achievements in international diplomacy, arguing that he or the United States should have received the honour instead of Indian-origin South African jurist Navi Pillay, who was awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.“I settled 8 WARS, am close to ending or settling 2 more, got all of the Israeli hostages back, including the final 28, both living and dead,” Trump wrote, adding that he had helped secure the release of hundreds of hostages from countries around the world. He also claimed to have won a war in Venezuela, captured its “violent dictator” and prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.“Yet, with all of that I, or the United States of America, did not get the Noble Peace Prize. WOW!” he added.Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for resolving eight conflicts, including tensions involving India and Pakistan, Israel and Iran, and Israel and Hamas. However, India has consistently rejected his claims of mediation in the India-Pakistan ceasefire, maintaining that the understanding was reached after Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations contacted his Indian counterpart. The US President also criticised the Norwegian Nobel Committee for selecting Pillay, questioning her credentials and accusing her of being opposed to Israel. He described the decision as “an indelible stain on Norway” and said the prize had been “forever discredited”.Pillay, a former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, was recognised for her work advancing international justice and accountability for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
