‘The Good Place’ star Ted Danson recently looked back on working in one of his most famous and beloved sitcoms from the 80s. Danson starred in the comedy TV show ‘Cheers’ from 1982 to 1993 as Sam Malone, and was known as one of the most beloved characters. However, looking back at those days now, the actor no longer remembers much. In a recent interview, the actor touched upon the topic of how his life was so “messed up” at the time that he does not remember what the ending of ‘Cheers’ was like for him, along with many other things from that part of his life.

Ted Danson, currently best known for his role as Michael in ‘The Good Place’, recently sat down for an interview to look back at his career in the entertainment industry. While talking on the ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name’ podcast with fellow actor Jake Johnson, the actor was asked about his time on the beloved 80s sitcom and how the ending of the show affected him at the time.Recalling those days, Danson shared that he had done a lot in his life at the time, which resulted in ‘Cheers’ being a bit of a ‘blur’ for him. He commented, “People say, ‘What was it like? What did you do when ‘Cheers’ was over?’ I said, ‘I had messed up my life so much that I didn’t even realise ‘Cheers’ was over.”The 78-year-oldactor revealed that a lot of things were going on in his life at the time, which drastically affected his career and everyday life. He shared, “I wanted to stop being a liar. Barely knew myself. I wanted to be emotionally mature. I wanted to change massively, and I went for it.” For the unversed, Danson and his second wife, Cassandra ‘Casey’ Coates, filed for divorce the same year that ‘Cheers’ ended. On top of that, the actor found himself in the headlines for his affair with fellow actress, Whoopi Goldberg.As to how he got better? The actor credited one of his mentors whom he visited at the time in Long Beach, California. While he did not name the person on the podcast, he shared that they helped him, guided him, and also gave him “a whole different kind of therapy, spirituality kind of thing.”
Ted Danson’s last projects
The 78-year-old star last appeared on ‘A Man On The Inside’, in which he worked with his wife, Mary Steenburgen. The two starred together in ‘Pontiac Moon’, and tied the knot in 1995. While talking to PEOPLE in an old interview about Steenburgen’s casting on the second season of his show, Danson revealed that he was elated to hear the news. He added, “We both love being actors; we both love the process. So we spent two and a half months together getting up, going to work early but just giggling the whole time because of what we got to say and do. It was just really a great opportunity.”While talking to USA Today about the same in another interview, Danson added, “It’s so much fun to play falling in love with someone you’re madly in love with. You just sink into each other, which is lovely.”
