Vikrant Massey is taking the fictional world of ‘Musafir Cafe’ beyond the screen. The actor, who played Chander in the series, is set to bring the show’s much-loved café to life with two real-world locations in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Construction is already underway at both sites, with the project also envisioned as a space for artists to live and create.
‘Musafir Cafe’ takes shape in the mountains
Fans of the series could soon get an opportunity to experience a real-life version of the café seen on screen. The upcoming spaces are being designed to retain the warm and cosy aesthetic of the fictional ‘Musafir Cafe’ while incorporating the character of their respective mountain locations.According to a Hindustan Times report, the project will include two cafés, one in Himachal Pradesh and another in Uttarakhand. Construction has already begun at both locations, with the designs drawing inspiration from the café featured in the show. The venture will reportedly also include around 20 rooms dedicated to artist residencies, extending the concept beyond a conventional café and creating a space where artists can stay and work.

The said report quoted that work on the project is progressing steadily, with the café gradually taking shape. “The café is slowly taking shape, and the construction has been progressing well. The idea is to recreate the warmth and aesthetic of the Musafir Cafe seen in the show while adapting it to the natural surroundings of the mountains,” the source in the report said.The artist-residency component is expected to be an important part of the project, with the spaces designed to complement the cafés and their surroundings.“There is a lot of thought going into the space, especially the artist residency component, which will be an important part of the project. The aim is to create something that feels like a natural extension of the world of Musafir Cafe,” the report stated.
First look at the real-life ‘Musafir Cafe’
The first glimpse of the construction, as revealed by the afore mentioned publication shows a stone-and-wood structure taking shape against a mountainous backdrop. While the architecture draws from the café featured in the series, the real-life locations are being adapted to their natural surroundings. The addition of dedicated artist-residency rooms also gives the project a purpose beyond recreating a popular fictional setting. The spaces are being envisioned as creative hubs where artists can spend time away from the bustle of city life.
‘Musafir Cafe’ season 2 is also in the works
Meanwhile, the fictional ‘Musafir Cafe’ is set to return for a second season. Created and written by Sharanya Rajgopal and directed by Ruchir Arun, the series is based on characters from Divya Prakash Dubey’s book. Vikrant Massey, Vedika Pinto and Mahima Makwana headline the series, with Adil Hussain, Rajeev Siddhartha, Anubha Fatehpuria, Loveleen Mishra and Sadia Siddiqui also part of the cast.Netflix has renewed the show for a second season, with Vikrant, Vedika and Mahima expected to reprise their respective roles as Chander, Sudha and Preeti. The upcoming season will continue the characters’ stories from where the first chapter concluded.
