LSG Look for Replacement as Wanindu Hasaranga Misses IPL 2026 Due to Injury

As per reports, the South African spinner George Linde will be replacing Hasaranga. He hasn’t appeared in any IPL matches in the past. LSG director revealed that the team is making preparations without the injured player as he may not be available. The team has been preparing alternative plans, and a new name will be finalized soon.

Earlier, Hasaranga had sustained a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s first game in the T20 World Cup in February. He missed out on the rest of the tournament after failing to clear his fitness test

While LSG bought Hasaranga in the auction for Rs 2 crores, he hasn’t joined the team due to his injury. Before joining LSG, he had been associated with Rajasthan Royals, while even before that, he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Even without Hasaranga, LSG’s bowling unit has been very potent in this season’s competition. LSG has some very talented spinners such as Digvesh Rathi, M Siddharth, and Shahbaz Ahmed.

Their fast bowler, Mohsin Khan, is currently unable to participate in the games due to stiffness. Linde has recently played T20 matches against New Zealand, taking just a single wicket in four T20Is against them. Despite that, Linde has an extensive T20 experience. He has participated in different league competitions, including SA20, The Hundred, Major League Cricket, and PSL. All in all, Linde has 218 wickets in 250 T20I games.
