The beloved pairing of Uday and Majnu from the ‘Welcome’ franchise looks set to reunite, this time for an entirely different genre, a zombie comedy. Reports suggest Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar are in discussions with producer Firoz Nadiadwala to join his upcoming zombie comedy, helmed by director Ahmed Khan.
Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar approached for a never-before-seen role
According to Bollywood Hungama, Firoz Nadiadwala has approached Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar with a never-before-seen role. It’s a character of two together, which has the potential to become the new-age Uday and Majnu. Both Anil and Nana are excited to embark on this journey with Nadiadwala. The film is presently in the writing stage. Firoz has locked Tiger Shroff to play the leading man in this zombie comedy, and is now packaging it with a solid ensemble. This one too will be a part of Nadiadwala’s family comedy universe, as the approach is to make a kids-friendly zombie comedy. The film will go on floors by early 2027 with a start-to-finish schedule.
Anil Kapoor’s latest outing in ‘War 2 ‘
On the professional front, Anil Kapoor most recently appeared in ‘War 2’, directed by Ayan Mukerji. Part of the Spy Universe as its sixth installment, the film continues the story from 2019’s ‘War’. It stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani, and centers on Kabir Dhaliwal, a former RAW agent turned rogue who poses a grave threat to national security, while Jr. NTR takes on the role of Vikram Chelapathi, a special forces officer assigned to bring him down.
Nana Patekar’s recent film ‘O’Romeo’
Nana Patekar, on the other hand, was most recently seen in ‘O’Romeo’, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, which released in theatres this February. The film, based on Hussain Zaidi’s book “Mafia Queens of Mumbai,” also starred Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, and Farida Jalaal, among others.
