Director Rajkumar Periyasamy has strongly reacted to rumours circulating on social media about ‘Amaran’ and his upcoming film ‘OM’ starring Dhanush. The speculation claimed that ‘Amaran’ had undergone major reshoots on the advice of producer Kamal Haasan and that the filmmaker was reshooting several scenes for ‘OM’ again. As the claims gained traction online, Rajkumar publicly responded, firmly denying the reports and calling out those spreading what he described as false narratives.
Rajkumar Periyasamy to rumours
Responding via an Instagram comment, Rajkumar Periyasamy dismissed every allegation. He wrote, “WHAT DO YOU GET BY SETTING FAKE NARRATIVES ALWAYS?? WHO TELLS YOU ALL THIS? THERE WAS NO RESHOOT! THERE’S NO SUCH CORRECTIONS GIVEN BY KAMAL HAASAN SIR.” He further praised the veteran actor and producer for trusting his vision, saying, “When he watched ‘Amaran’ once during the post-production phase, he had only tears and words of appreciation. And as a producer, he gave me all the liberty to make the film I wanted.” His response quickly went viral, with many fans backing the filmmaker for addressing the rumours directly.
Director defends creative freedom and the effort behind filmmaking
Rajkumar also expressed his disappointment over repeated attempts to undermine a filmmaker’s work. “A director works for ages to make a movie he or she has envisioned. Most directors aren’t given the due credit, but it’s a sin to make it all seem pointless when such narratives are pushed again and again,” he wrote. “This is the third time I have seen the same statement from you and I chose to ignore it initially, but it encourages your sort,” he added, pointing out that this was not the first time such reports had surfaced. He also reminded critics that reshooting a movie is neither simple nor casual, stressing that it takes a lot of planning, responsibility and money.
Focus shifts back to Dhanush’s ‘OM’ after clarification
Now, the speculation ends with his clarification, and the focus has shifted to Rajkumar Periyasamy’s next project, ‘OM,’ in which Dhanush will star alongside Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela. The film is one of the most awaited Tamil releases of the year and will hit theatres in October. Rajkumar has reiterated his belief in his work with his open denial of the rumours surrounding both ‘Amaran’ and ‘OM,’ making it clear that misleading reports should not eclipse the efforts of an entire filmmaking team.
