‘Will consult PM’ says Naqvi on allowing spectators in PSL 11- IPL

‘Will consult PM’ says Naqvi on allowing spectators in PSL 11Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi says he will speak with the country’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, about allowing spectators back in the ongoing edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). The board had decided that the league would be played without crowds in the wake of the ongoing Middle East conflict.

“I will speak again to the prime minister regarding the crowd,” Naqvi told the media in Karachi during the game between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans on Monday.

Franchise owners’ appeal and ceasefire talks

The league is approaching the latter half of its group stages, and so far, no spectators have been allowed in any of the games. Earlier, there were reports that the PCB might revisit its decision following the temporary ceasefire. Franchise owners had also appealed to the board to bring back the crowds, but none of that brought any results.

Venues reduced amid logistical concerns

This was the first edition where eight teams played, with Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz debutting in the PSL this year. The tournament was supposed to be played across six venues, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Peshawar, and Multan. However, the board also limited the competition to Karachi and Lahore only to deal with potential fuel crises as a result of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to the conflict.
