Amitabh Bachchan has been greeting fans outside his Mumbai home, Jalsa, every Sunday for years. He recently admitted that the walk out to meet them still makes him nervous. In a heartfelt blog post shared on May 17, the megastar of Hindi cinema opened up about the anxiety he feels before each meet and the rush of joy that washes over him the moment he hears the crowd cheer.

Sharing a series of pictures from his latest Sunday fan meet on Tumblr, Amitabh Bachchan described the mix of apprehension and excitement that comes with stepping out to greet well-wishers. He wrote, “I go in from the house to meet the wellwishers .. staff security and police tell me its ready to come .. and as I walk apprehension .. will they be there .. will they greet me .. or booo ??”He added that the moment the cheers begin, everything changes: his body, his energy, and his spirit. The veteran actor shared, “And then I hear the cheers, and the adrenaline activates and the body and limbs move in cohesion .. almost as an intrusion .. a loving intrusion .. and the joy of seeing so much joy in others .. the constants, the elderly the little kids who do not know what the heck is going on .. but cute they are .. Ahhhh .. such a blessing .. the Almighty be praised.”

Big B ensures fan comfort even in summer heat

Amitabh Bachchan’s concern for his fans goes beyond the meet itself. Last week, Big BB revealed that he personally spoke to his security team about how fans are treated when they wait, sometimes for hours, in the summer heat outside Jalsa.He wrote, “In this heat, they have been waiting for hours to get a glimpse, and that is no small thing. After that, to not behave well with them, that is not okay. The public is our god. Love, respect and good wishes to them; that’s all they want. They give us so much, and we need to mirror the same love and respect for them.”

On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan will next appear in ‘Kalki 2898 AD 2’, the much-anticipated sequel directed by Nag Ashwin. The film also stars Prabhas and Kamal Haasan. Deepika Padukone, who featured in the first film, will not be returning for the sequel. The release date of the movie has not yet been announced.
