Yash Thakur Gets India Call-Up as Harshit Rana Ruled Out of Afghanistan Series, Asian Games- IPL

Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur has been added to India’s squads for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the upcoming Asian Games. The Afghanistan series will start on September 13. Thakur has also been included in the Asian Games squad. This will be his second T20I series after making his India debut against Zimbabwe in July.

Thakur Earns Another India Call-Up

Thakur impressed during last year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He took 18 wickets in seven matches and earned a place in India’s squad for the Zimbabwe tour. He took four wickets in two matches during the Zimbabwe series. He finished the tour with an economy rate of 9.37.

Harshit Rana Ruled Out

India have also made a change to the squad after Harshit Rana suffered another injury. Rana had been recovering from a hamstring injury at the Centre of Excellence. The BCCI confirmed that Rana suffered a rectus femoris strain while bowling during a match simulation on September 7. He has now been ruled out of the Afghanistan series and Asian Games.

Three Players Get Fitness Clearance

Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the updated squad. All three players had been waiting for fitness clearance before being picked for the Afghanistan T20Is.

India will first face Afghanistan in the three-match T20I series. The team will then prepare for the Asian Games. India are also scheduled to play a historic one-off T20I against Japan before the Asian Games. The match will be part of India’s preparation for the tournament.
