Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) could make some changes to their squad before IPL 2027. The team has a strong group of experienced players, but there could still be a few tough decisions before the next auction.
RCB have several players who may not get regular chances in the playing XI. The franchise could release some of them and use the available purse to strengthen other areas of the squad.
1. Swapnil Singh
Swapnil Singh could be one of the players RCB may review before IPL 2027. The left-arm spinner has experience but has not been a regular member of the playing XI.
RCB already have several options in the spin department. Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma are among the players who can offer spin, while the team also has other bowling options.
RCB could therefore decide to release Swapnil and use his place for another player.
2. Abhinandan Singh
Abhinandan Singh could also be in danger of being released. The young Indian pacer is part of the RCB squad but has limited IPL experience.
RCB have several established fast bowlers, including Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal and Rasikh Dar. This makes it difficult for Abhinandan to get regular opportunities.
The franchise could look for another Indian pace option if it decides to release him.
3. Jordan Cox
Jordan Cox could be another player RCB may consider releasing. The England wicketkeeper-batter was signed by RCB at the 2026 auction for his base price of ₹75 lakh.
However, RCB have several wicketkeeping options, including Phil Salt and Jitesh Sharma. With limited overseas slots available in the playing XI, it may be difficult for Cox to get regular chances.
RCB could use his overseas spot for a player who fits their plans better.
4. Richard Gleeson
Richard Gleeson could also be a possible release before IPL 2027. RCB signed the England fast bowler as a replacement for Nuwan Thushara during IPL 2026 for ₹1.6 crore.
Gleeson has experience in T20 cricket, but RCB have other overseas bowling options. Josh Hazlewood is already an important part of the bowling attack, while Jacob Duffy also provides another overseas pace option.
RCB could therefore decide to look for a different overseas bowler at the next auction.
5. Satvik Deswal
Satvik Deswal could also be considered for release. RCB signed the young left-arm wrist spinner at the 2026 auction for ₹30 lakh.
He is a promising player but has limited IPL experience. RCB may decide that they need more experienced players in their squad or could use his place to bring in another young Indian talent.
However, RCB could also retain him as a long-term option.
RCB have several players to consider
RCB’s current squad has a good mix of experienced stars and young players. The team includes Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Krunal Pandya, Yash Dayal, Venkatesh Iyer, Jacob Duffy and several young players.
The franchise may not make too many changes because it already has a strong core. However, releasing players who are not getting regular opportunities could give RCB more flexibility before IPL 2027.
