Sharmin Akhter and Shorna Akter Fight Back
Bangladesh were in trouble at 45 for 4 when Sharmin Akhter and Shorna Akter came together. The pair played carefully and added 54 runs for the fifth wicket off 98 balls. Sharmin reached her half-century but fell for 50 in the 34th over. She edged Ellyse Perry’s delivery to gully. Ash Gardner took another wicket soon after, leaving Shorna with the task of helping Bangladesh reach a decent total.
Shorna scored 54 off 54 balls and reached her fifty in the 47th over. She fell in the 49th over when Beth Mooney removed the bails after Shorna missed a hook shot off Annabel Sutherland’s bouncer. Her back leg was outside the crease when the bails came off.
Kim Garth Misses Out on Wickets
Garth beat the batters several times but could not get a wicket. An edge from Mostary in the 12th over went through the hands of the gully fielder. Garth thought she had dismissed Shorna in the 44th over after trapping her in front. However, Shorna survived after the decision was overturned on review. She hit the next ball for four, adding to Garth’s frustration. Bangladesh kept losing wickets but managed to reach 172, thanks to the half-centuries from Sharmin and Shorna.

However, Perry and Sutherland soon changed the game. They hit seven boundaries in the next five overs, taking Australia to 74 for 2 at the end of the powerplay.

Perry and Sutherland continued to attack as Australia moved closer to the target. Sutherland reached her half-century in the 20th over when she stepped down the track and hit Biswas over mid-off. Perry reached her fifty two balls later with a single. Australia were 140 for 2 after 20 overs and needed only 33 more runs to win.
The pair finished the chase in the next 16 balls. Sutherland remained unbeaten on 74, hitting 12 fours, while Perry scored 65 not out with eight fours. Australia won by eight wickets and completed a 3-0 series sweep. Bangladesh failed to win a match on the tour.
