The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has scheduled a meeting with all IPL stakeholders on October 15. The meeting comes after the board decided at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) to make the next IPL season bigger and better.
“We have invited all the stakeholders of the IPL, including franchise owners, broadcasters and hosting state associations. It is a follow-up to our earlier decision to conduct the next season of the IPL, which will be the 20th edition, on a grand scale,” Saikia said this while confirming the meeting to Cricbuzz on Friday.
The meeting is expected to include 13 state cricket associations that usually host IPL matches. Representatives from JioStar, the tournament’s broadcaster, have also been invited. The meeting venue is yet to be decided, but it may be held outside the BCCI headquarters due to the large number of people expected to attend.
“We have not yet finalised the venue. We have just shortlisted a few options. We will take a final call soon,” the BCCI secretary added.
“As the league approaches its landmark 20th season in 2027, the BCCI proposes to convene a joint meeting of all key stakeholders, namely the State associations that hosted IPL matches, the Franchise owners and their Chief Executive Officers and the Broadcasters. The meeting is intended to review the issues and learnings from the past seasons, address any concerns and deliberate on the planning and coordination for the 2027 season,” Saikia wrote in his letter.
“The State Associations play a central role in the successful staging of the League and your perspective on matters of hosting, venue operations, and match-day coordination will be of great value to these deliberations. We look forward to your presence and valuable inputs and to working together toward making the 20th season of the IPL a truly memorable one,” Saikia added.
