England have named an unchanged playing XI for the third T20I against India, scheduled to be played on July 7 in Nottingham. Continuing their recent practice of announcing the team a day before the match, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has retained the same combination that secured a four-wicket victory in the second T20I. England will now aim to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series after the opening game was washed out due to rain.
Fast bowler Jofra Archer will once again lead England’s pace attack after returning to the side in the second T20I. Archer was rested for the opening match of the series as part of his workload management plan, having also missed England’s first Test of the summer against New Zealand. With T20 cricket placing a lighter workload on bowlers, England are comfortable allowing Archer to feature in consecutive matches, where he is limited to a maximum of four overs.
England Retain Winning Combination for Third T20I
There is still no debut for all-rounder James Coles, who received his maiden England call-up for the series. The youngster has remained on the bench for all three matches so far. England had made two changes for the second T20I, bringing in Archer and debutant Josh Tongue in place of Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wood, and those changes have been retained for the third fixture.
Captain Harry Brook will once again rely on an experienced batting unit featuring Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Sam Curran and Will Jacks. The bowling attack also remains balanced with Archer, Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson and Josh Tongue providing pace and spin options as England look to continue their winning momentum against India.
England’s unchanged XI reflects the management’s confidence after the victory in Manchester. With the series still wide open following the rain-affected opener, another win in Nottingham would put England in a commanding position heading into the final two matches of the series.
England Playing XI:
Phil Salt, Jos Buttler (wk), Harry Brook (c), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue.
