Pakistan pacer Mir Hamza has struck up a deal with Glamorgan County for the remainder of their season, starting August 27.
Hamza to be available for final five fixtures
Glamorgan will play their next fixture on August 20 against Leicestershire, which Hamza will miss, having been signed just a day out from the game. He will, however, be available for their next game against Hampshire on August 27.
This will be the left-arm pacer’s second stint with the county club, having previously played six games in the 2024 County Championship, when the club played in Division Two. Hamza bagged twelve wickets at an average of 35.5 in eight innings.
“Hamza’s skill, control and consistency added vital strength to the bowling group, and his return provides a timely boost as the Club enters the decisive closing phase of the Championship season,” said the county club in a web release.
“Hamza has enjoyed a strong period of red-ball cricket since his last appearance for Glamorgan, continuing to build his reputation as a reliable and highly effective performer in long-form cricket. His ability to challenge both edges, apply sustained pressure and deliver heavy workloads makes him a valuable addition to the squad as Glamorgan look to finish the season strongly.”
Hamza joins Noman Ali in County Championship
He will be the second Pakistan bowler in the Championship this edition, with Noman Ali previously landing a deal with Lancashire for their final six games, though the two bowlers will not face each other for their respective teams.
“We’re delighted to have Mir rejoining us for the last [five] games of the year,” Wallace stated.
“With such a busy international calendar and domestic seasons restarting in the Southern Hemisphere, there is limited availability at this time of the year, so we’re lucky to be able to call on a player of Mir’s quality for the run-in.”
Hamza has played a total of seven Test games for Pakistan, with a best match-figure of 6/83 coming against Australia in the Boxing Day Test in 2023. His recent red-ball appearance came in Pakistan’s tour of South Africa in October 2025, where he took two wickets in one game.
