Pakistan’s fielding coach Shane McDermott unexpectedly resigns- IPL

Pakistan’s fielding coach Shane McDermott unexpectedly resignsPakistan’s fielding coach Shane McDermott has resigned from his role with the side in a surprising turn of events. McDermott, who is currently in Australia during the team’s rare break in the schedule, was appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in July last year for an unspecified period. He was due to accompany Pakistan to the Asian Games in September, which implies that the board had no prior notice of his decision.

McDermott’s stint with Pakistan

McDermott replaced Mohammad Masroor as Pakistan’s fielding coach, and under him, the side’s fielding improved significantly. His first assignment with Pakistan came during the three-match T20I series in Bangladesh, though he had previously held similar roles with other teams. He previously served as assistant fielding coach for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for three years each.

Pakistan set for Caribbean tour

The decision has not been officially announced by the PCB, though the board is expected to announce the replacement soon, with Pakistan set to depart for the Caribbean Test tour in a couple of days. The side will play its first competitive game since the first week of June, when they last featured in an ODI against Australia. The first of the two Tests against the West Indies begins on July 25, while Pakistan are scheduled for a tour match on July 18.

Following the West Indies tour, Pakistan will fly to England, where they will face England in three Test matches, beginning August 19.
