Actor-director R. Parthiban has stepped in to clear the air after his recent interview about a hurtful message he received following the demise of his mentor, filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj, triggered widespread speculation online. His emotional revelation led many on social media to guess the identity of the person behind the message, with some even naming senior film personalities. However, Parthiban has now appealed to fans not to make assumptions and made it clear that he does not want anyone to be blamed without proof.
Parthiban moves ahead with positivity
In a post shared on X, Parthiban addressed the growing rumours and clarified that he had never intended to reveal or hint at the sender’s identity. He wrote that he had only spoken about the pain caused by “an inhumane individual who spread venom,” but never mentioned any names. Referring to the online speculation, he said, “Please don’t assume it is someone and target them. Let the identity of that uncivilised individual remain unknown.” He further added, “May the poison he spread also fade away from my memories,” making it clear that he wishes to move on from the unpleasant episode instead of keeping the controversy alive.
Director announces a special honour for his mentor
Parthiban also chose to shift the focus back to his late mentor by sharing a positive update. He revealed that he had submitted a proposal to the South Indian Film Writers’ Association requesting that K. Bhagyaraj be named the organisation’s permanent Honorary President. According to Parthiban, the proposal received unanimous approval from the members. He also announced that the association’s next building will be named after the filmmaker. He said it was a fitting tribute to the filmmaker’s remarkable contribution to Tamil cinema. Fans have appreciated the gesture, and some have commended Parthiban for celebrating his guru’s legacy.
Bhagyaraj’s legacy continues to inspire Tamil cinema
K. Bhagyaraj passed away on June 27 due to a cardiac arrest, leaving behind a remarkable legacy spanning over five decades. The veteran filmmaker, writer and actor churned out many memorable classics that continue to be celebrated by audiences. Debuting under the mentorship of Bhagyaraj, Parthiban has always credited his mentor for shaping his journey in cinema. Now the debate around the viral message continues, but Parthiban’s recent clarification has shifted the focus to paying tribute to Bhagyaraj’s great work rather than the speculation.
